When circumstances call for an expert orthopedist who treats patients as the whole person, rather than just an injured body part, Mirylsa Colón-Martínez, MD, FAAOS, provides the holistic care her patients need. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Dr. Colón-Martínez, of OrthoWellness, offers the highest standard of care as a foot and ankle specialist in Boca Raton, Florida. With an outstanding educational background and exceptional professional credentials, Dr. Colón-Martínez is also the only female orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle problems, who is fluent in English and Spanish, providing services for men and women in South Florida’s Broward and Palm Beach counties.

Dr. Colón-Martínez’s impressive educational experience began at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she graduated magna cum laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed a foot and ankle fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In 2008, Dr. Colón-Martínez completed her orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico and affiliated hospitals.

In 2009, Dr. Colón-Martínez established her private practice in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and in 2015, relocated to South Florida. Shortly thereafter, she began her practice at OrthoWellness. She is currently an assistant clinical professor of surgery at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was selected as one of America’s top orthopedists of 2018.  

Dr. Colón-Martínez has published articles in scientific and medical journals and has been a speaker at conferences, on TV, and radio. She’s one of the few orthopedic surgeons trained in minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery, and is also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and facial aesthetics, including Botox® and platelet-rich plasma injections.

In her free time, Dr. Colón-Martínez spends time with her family and enjoys boating, surfing, and yoga. She is a certified Trauma-Conscious Yoga MethodSM instructor and is completing her yoga teacher training in 2018 to incorporate that knowledge into her medical practice.
