Mirylsa Colón-Martínez, MD, FAAOS

Dr. Colón is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon, and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She completed a Foot and Ankle Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, in Boston, MA, affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In 2008, she completed Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Puerto Rico Program and Affiliated Hospitals, after graduating magna Cum Laude and a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, from the University of Puerto Rico Medical School. She established her private practice in San Juan, PR in 2009 and relocated to South Florida in late 2015. She has published different articles in prestigious scientific journals, including Foot and Ankle International, Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics Part B, and Biomedical Materials Research. Dr. Colon has been guest speaker at several conferences, has appeared on TV and Radio, and stays active in the community as an educator.

Dr. Colón is also the only female orthopedic surgeon, trained in foot and ankle, who is also bilingual (fluent in English and Spanish), providing services for South Florida, including Broward and Palm Beach Counties. She is one of the very few trained in Minimally-Invasive Foot and Ankle Surgery, certified by GRECMIP, French institute, and offering this innovative technology in South Florida. Dr. Colón is also trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound and facial aesthetics including Botox and Platelet-Rich Plasma injections.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, boating, surfing and yoga. She is also a certified Trauma Conscious Yoga instructor and volunteer with CoCo (Connection Coalition). She has also been directly involved with #doctorasboricuas, bringing medical relief to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. She expected to complete Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 to incorporate the knowledge in her medical practice.
